How the 3 Series Delivers Performance and Reliability for DrainTech

DrainTech Services is a specialist drainage contractor based in the Midlands, providing a full range of above and below-ground services across both domestic and commercial sectors. With a particular focus on social housing, the company supports 18 housing associations, delivering reactive maintenance, CCTV surveys, and descaling services.
James Taylor, Operations Manager, has been in the drainage industry for over a decade and brings a wealth of experience to the day-to-day running of the fleet and planning of site work.
“We’ve built a strong presence in the social housing sector, “he explains. “We’re constantly handling recovery jobs across a wide range of properties.”
DrainTech operates a fleet of jetting units, comprising the majority of Rioned machines, as well as two Andy Guest 3-Series van-packs. Each unit plays a defined role depending on the job requirements, but James notes the 3-Series has proven to be one of the most dependable all-rounders.

Everyday Dependability for Social Housing Work
The 3-Series units are used extensively for everyday unblocking tasks and are frequently deployed to support CCTV survey work by clearing debris, scale, and roots ahead of camera inspections.
“We send the 3-Series out to descale the lines first, so we get clear footage. If we come across any roots, we can cut them out with the 3-Series too. We know it will get the job done.”
For DrainTech, reliability is non-negotiable. Engineers are often responding to urgent callouts, especially in the social housing sector, where delays can impact tenants.
According to James, the Andy Guest 3-Series has consistently delivered the performance needed to maintain service levels: “It’s cost-effective yet reliable. We know if we come up against a blockage, we can rely on the jetter to get the blockage cleared.”

From an operator's perspective, the equipment offers a straightforward and high-performing on-site experience. When asked to describe a typical job, James says the unit is “smooth”: “We don’t have any issues with it. The unit is reliable, powerful and efficient to run.”
The 3-Series is designed to deliver a balance of power, efficiency, and value, making it ideal for contractors like DrainTech. Built with a compact footprint to suit smaller vans, the unit features a robust 3000psi (200 bar) pump at 12gpm (54 lpm), providing more than enough power for routine unblocking, descaling, and root cutting tasks.
Powered by a fuel-efficient Vanguard EFI V-Twin petrol engine, the 3-Series offers lower fuel consumption and cleaner running compared to a diesel equivalent, while also being lighter in weight, reducing vehicle payload and saving on fuel costs.
With its thoughtful engineering and proven reliability, the 3-Series stands out as a versatile solution for everyday drainage challenges. This flexibility has made the 3-Series a go-to machine for DrainTech when tackling both reactive and planned works.
