Maximising Drainage Van Payload with Stack Jetting Systems
Across the drainage industry, there has been a noticeable shift toward lighter, multi-purpose vehicles that can carry out jetting, surveying and lining in a single visit. With tighter payload restrictions and the growing demand for single-resolution operations, contractors have sought to maximise space without compromising performance.
Stack jetters have become a common feature in modern drainage fleets. Built to take up less than half the width of a standard van-pack, they allow engineers to fit more into their vehicles while staying within 3.5-tonne limits. For many contractors, this flexibility has redefined how they work.
Space, Payload and Performance
Traditional van-pack jetters often take up the full rear compartment of a vehicle, leaving little room for additional equipment. Stack systems are built differently, with a narrow, vertical frame that sits to one side of the van.
Developed for contractors who need to make the most of every inch of space, the design creates room for extra tools, CCTV systems or lining equipment while maintaining full jetting power. Running a lighter van also means operators can send out more teams without the added cost or licence requirements of heavier vehicles.
Precision Engineering, Built to Fit
Every stack system from Andy Guest is designed and manufactured in-house at our UK facility, giving us complete control over build quality, performance and finish. Our 1, 2, 3 and 5 Series stack jetters are based on proven van-pack designs, engineered to deliver maximum jetting power in a compact footprint.
Each system is developed to make the best use of space and payload, allowing contractors to carry additional equipment without exceeding 3.5-tonne limits. Every frame is constructed from high-strength steel for durability and corrosion resistance, and all units are assembled, tested and calibrated before delivery.
While our stack systems follow standard series configurations, each build can be tailored to suit individual vehicle layouts or operational needs. This combination of proven design and flexible setup makes the stack range ideal for modern drainage fleets where space and efficiency matter most.
Proven in the Field
The benefits of the 3-Series Stack Jetter are clear for contractors who need to get the most from their vehicles. The high-performance petrol unit offers all the characteristics of a diesel-powered machine while being compact, lightweight and easy to install.
Paul Crowley, Director of Crowley Services Ltd, has seen the difference the design makes first-hand.
“While the advancements in technology have made a difference to the way we work, the payload and the amount of equipment we can carry in a 3.5 t van have been an issue,” says Paul. “As features have improved, the weight of the jetters has increased. This restricted what we could put in 3.5t vans, and using bigger vans is not an option, as it would require operatives to hold a C-class licence. These days, the peeled-back approach to equipment is better for the business.”
Paul continues, “Economics dictate the evolution of the industry. It’s about making money by being able to identify and fix issues in a single visit.”
His experience highlights how space-saving designs, such as the stack jetter, can make a real operational difference for contractors managing large fleets.
The 3-Series Stack Advantage
The 3-Series Stack Jetter delivers the same level of performance as a full-size van-pack but in a much smaller footprint. Powered by a 37 HP (27 kW) Vanguard EFi V-Twin petrol engine, it produces 3000 psi @12 gpm (200 bar @54 lpm) and is suitable for pipelines up to 300 mm in diameter.
The system includes a triplex high-pressure pump, hydraulic hose reel and an electronic push-button control panel, with the option to add a 5-channel radio remote control for single-person operation. Despite its capability, the unit weighs only around 300 kg and includes a 400-litre (88-gallon) water tank as standard.
This lightweight and compact setup means contractors can fit more into their vehicles while maintaining full power and performance.
Intelligent Vehicle Layout
Stack jetters are designed to make the most of every space within the van. The narrow layout allows the unit to be installed alongside other key equipment, such as CCTV systems and lining gear, while maintaining a clear working area for engineers.
Positioning the water tank against the bulkhead helps balance the vehicle’s weight, while lightweight composite materials reduce overall mass. These details ensure contractors can stay within payload limits without losing essential functionality or performance.
The result is a smarter, more efficient vehicle that can handle jetting, inspection and repair in a single visit. It reflects how modern drainage equipment is evolving to meet the demands of today’s working environment.
The Future of Stack Jetters
As the industry continues to evolve, the demand for lighter and more versatile vehicles will only grow. Stack jetters are leading that change by combining the performance of a full van-pack system with a compact, space-saving design.
By designing and manufacturing every unit in-house, Andy Guest Jetters can tailor each build to the customer’s exact needs, ensuring a perfect balance of performance, reliability and usability.
