Customising the Kit to Fit

4-Series Stack Bespoke Jetter in Jet Aire Drainage Van

Launched in 2019, the Andy Guest 4-Series jetter has proved popular due to its improved torque at low revs, low-noise and lightweight design. A recent project with Jet Aire Services demonstrates the manufacturer’s ability to adapt standard machines to suit the specific requirements of the customer.

Jet Aire Services manage a large fleet of drainage vehicles including van-pack units, jet-vac tankers and larger recycler tanker units, undertaking a wide range of drainage cleaning, repair, remediation and installation work.

One of the largest drainage contractors in the North of England, the company’s workload includes planned maintenance contracts with utility companies such as Northumbrian Water and well-known brands including Marks and Spencer and Redrow Homes. Despite the current climate, Charlie Kirk, Director at Jet Aire, says the business has proved “remarkably resilient” through these tough times.

Certainly resilient enough to go ahead with an order for six new jetting machines from Andy Guest Jetters, which include three new 3-Series petrol jetters, a 4-Series Stack jetter and two customised 4-Series diesel jetters.

Customised 4 series

Charlie explains that the firm has enjoyed a good relationship with the jetter manufacturer over many years: “We’ve been using Andy Guest units since 1999 and trust the build quality and performance of the machines. We keep our units operational for as long as possible, often swapping them into new vans, so reliability is paramount.”

The first of the customised 4-Series has been with the company for two months and was specifically redesigned for use in a 5-tonne van. A custom frame was constructed to site the larger 4-cylinder Yanmar engine and Speck 60/250 pump. The frame has been raised for improved operational safety and to allow for more storage space on the floor of the vehicle. The unit was also supplied with a non-standard 1000L water tank.

While the pump capacity of the unit is the same as the standard 4-Series, producing 3625PSI @13GPM, Jet Aire opted for the larger engine and pump to meet the rigours of their workload.

“It’s to stay more on top of the job,” explains Charlie. “The higher specification machine offers plenty of power and increased performance when tackling everything from cleansing and clearing blockages to root cutting.”

“The new machine has been excellent. In the recent past, we’ve built jetting machines in-house but realised that using Andy Guest units is more cost-effective. We fit out all our jetting vans to an extremely high standard with the right equipment, which means less wear and tear over time.”

Jon Woods, sales manager at Andy Guest Jetters, added: “It’s a pleasure to work with Charlie and the team at Jet Aire. We have a great engineering team at Andy Guest that are extremely skilled at customising equipment to suit clients’ requirements. We’re really pleased with the results.”
